When I Get There Freezing in my northern home Keeping true to my promise Said I’d stay on through the winter And I’d write it all down in my book And I’ll show you just as soon as I get there I had a house in Osborne village Pretty close to the V.I.V. I met some good people when I stayed there I made some memories in the city And I’ll tell you all about them just as soon as I get there I had a good friend who came with me But he took off from my porch I had a dream and I thought I had found him I hope he has found a better home Cause I still love that old dog even though he is out on the lamb Come on back Drake Some of you might be thinking Why the hell did I come out here Well, I just needed a retreat And there was some folks that I had to meet And I’ll tell you all about them just as soon as I get home and I’m coming home I wish I had my brothers Ford pick-up It would pick me up right outta here And take me back to Toronto And my apartment above the Cadillac And I’ll show you all around just as soon as I get there Over the prairies, over, over Over the great lakes, over, over Over the forests, over, over And I can see it on the lake side Down in it’s smog With the lights on the inside Baby I’m almost home .......snowed in
